26th January as we all know is celebrated as Republic Day, the day when our constitution came into force. The struggle and sacrifice by our freedom fighters to bring independence is always noteworthy. It is undoubtedly the contribution of our leaders and sacrifice by our freedom fighters that we are able to live in an Independent Democratic Country with peace and brotherhood.
The country gained Independence on August 15, 1947, but it wasn't a Republic until 1950 when the constitution of the country was finally adopted, and the Nation was declared to be a Republic. This day highlights the contributions of the republic to the nation and also pays tribute to the various services provided by the government in maintaining the nation.
The history of the constitution making started before the existing constitution came into force. It was during the Nehru commission report in 1930, that the colonial government challenged the eminent leaders to frame a constitution which should suit the different political parties and different communities. Indians accepted the challenge. The Nehru committee report was drafted and published.
After Independence, the drafting of the constitution was completed in 11 sessions which took 2 years 11 months, and 18 days. The sitting took place from 9th December 1946 to 26th November 1949. The drafting committee chairman was Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and the President was Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
We have come a long way on this journey with many amendments and changes being made to the constitution. We are in the 73rd year of the Republic Day. The Republic Day parade among other things, showcases the dedication, sacrifice, and devotion of the Defence Forces of our country.
This festival is always a solemn reminder of the heroic sacrifices by the martyrs who dedicated their lives for the freedom movement and the succeeding wars.
We at Birla Open Minds International School, Kollur are thrilled to celebrate the Republic Day this year too with immense enthusiasm and patriotism dedicating the program to the Real Heroes of Our country, “Jawaon Ke Naam, Desh Ka Salam” by instilling the feeling of pride, patriotism, and love for our country by virtually celebrating the 73rd Republic Day.
This Virtual Exhibition is organised by our students to present in a nutshell the mammoth contribution of our Defence Forces in various fields and give us a spectacular glimpse of our Military Regiments, Women Heroes, The Different Honours and Awards, The Development of Indian Arms and Ammunitions Post Independence Era, a Podcast among other things.
This is just a glimpse into the expedition of the Indian Armed Forces!
